Hi, I’m Anisa, founder of The Circular Consumer! A platform sharing ideas and creative solutions to climate change and circular economy for businesses and consumers! My goal is to empower small businesses to make informed decisions to reduce their environmental impacts and help consumers rethink their consumption habits.
Why are sustainable business practices and conscious consumerism so important to me? My background working in cleantech made it clear that our linear economic model could not be maintained. Working across heavy-polluting industries, including oil and gas, mining and waste management, highlighted the detrimental social and environmental impacts of product production and disposal. The magnitude of our waste issue came to light while working in Indonesia when I experienced the end point of our recycling, which included sending plastics to countries that lacked the infrastructure to deal with the plastic and who were already overwhelmed with their own waste.
Experiencing the environmental impacts of consumerism at various stages of the system, I realized we need change. There is no one solution to climate change or our global waste issue. However, we have the power to make small changes to lower our impacts in business and our day-to-day lives.
